Since the volume of pictures has gone down, I thought that I'd put up one that I finished this week.

It's a segmented bowl with 10 1/2" width and 4 1/2" tall. It has 102 pieces and the bottom is solid, not inlaid.

Nice work, Dennis! Another great segmented bowl! If it was platter day, or plain bowl day again I could play. But segmented work is Greek to me... but I enjoy looking at what you guys post!

Thanks for the picture!

Very nice job, Dennis. That is a fine looking segmented bowl. I am very fond of that diamond pattern myself and use it quite frequently as lid material for turned boxes. Just excellent use in the bottom of your bowl! I may have to borrow that idea some time....;)

Hi Mike,

The bulk of the bowl is walnut. The 2 other woods are holly and bloodwood. I used Formsby Tung Oil Finish, about 5 coats. I plan to Beall Buff it next.

In this style, I try to find contrasting woods so that they stand out against each other. The bigger the contrast, the better!
