Stop bloodwood from bleeding

A friend ask me how to stop bloodwood from bleeding into maple or other light colored wood. My suggestion was to use a freshly sharpened tool for the finish cut. Then apply sanding sealer. This has worked for me. I would like to hear from others. Rod

I’ve had no issue with bloodwood bleeding. I use soft maple and bloodwood a lot and haven’t seen this. I’m also making segmented pieces so maybe it’s not an issues with segments.

It doesn't bleed so much as the sanding dust gets into the pores of surrounding wood. Sanding sealer and careful sanding are the way to go, so you don't push the dust from the bloodwood into the lighter areas.
