My friend who is not a woodworker but does home projects, wanted a jigsaw for Christmas after using my almost worthless Skil jigsaw, which cannot cut a straight line. I was looking in the $50-$80 range. Bosch, PC, DeWalt, even Ridgid and Ryobi. While shopping Amazon, the TackLife saw kept popping up and I kept ignoring it as I had never heard of it. But when I saw the features it offered compared to the others, it became my choice. It included a carrying case, it had a laser line to follow, was variable speed, it had an LED light and dust blower as well as a vac hose connection and came with an assortment of blades. And it had a pretty hefty 6.7 amp motor. While there were only a dozen reviews, which could have been fake I suppose, they were all pretty good, although not in-depth. One feature I was looking for which most saws now have (except my Skil of course) is a lower blade guide wheel which helps keep the cutting on the straight and narrow. I opened it to make sure it was something I wanted to gift and was pretty impressed with its construction. It has an aluminum base with a plastic non-scratch surface. I really liked its metal blade lock. All in all, I am comfortable giving it to my friend, and I may even finding myself borrowing it on occasion.
