Turned this Box Elder bowl today and was surprised when it was finished and had no cracks in it. Every piece of box elder I have turned (except this one) ends up with at least one crack in it.

It is 14-1/2" x 3-1/2" x 3/8" and is finished with Tung Oil and Bees Wax. I will buff this one out next week. There is no shine yet, but lots of curl in the wood with a little red flame.:D Comments welcome

Thanks for looking.

Hey Dick, how are you applying your beeswax?

Mark I put it on while on the lathe. First I put on the Tung oil (on the lathe) and then rub the bees wax into the Tung Oil. Then take a cloth and rub them both in while the lathe is turning. The friction heat will spread the wax and also work in the Tung oil and the cloth will soak up the extra oil.

Dick,

Great job on the bowl!

Thanks for the Finish Tip - I'll give it a try and see how it goes.
