Here's a question for the old tool experts out there. Take a look at the picture of the logo on a Stanley plane blade. Is this blade a 1992 blade or an 1892 blade. I took it for a 1992 date but a friend of mine insists it's an 1892 blade. What do you say?

Mike

P.S. If I'm posting in the wrong place, please let me know.

I don't know, but I'd sure doubt the Stanley had any patents on plane blades to apply for in 1992.

Hi Mike. It's April (Ap'l) 19 of 1892.

DATAMP is down for some reason, but what the patent date actually included would most likely be listed.

It is found at http://www.datamp.org

Mike - thanks for the information and the pointer. I'll check it when the site comes back up. I guess I owe the seller an apology - I demanded a lower price because I thought it was 1992. Oh, well...

Mike,

You might find this page (http://www.antique-used-tools.com/stantms.htm) helpful.
