View Full Version : Where would I get a replacement strip for my shower?

The strip that goes on the shower wall and prevents water from leaking out the door is pretty worn out. I have googled extensively and haven't found anything like it. Any suggestions where I could find it? Or even where I would look?

It is about 5/8" long and 1/8" at the base.

Do you know the mfg of the shower door? I am guessing not or you would have tried that route.

Nope. There is absolutely nothing on it. I am kinda guessing someone fabricated it.

Wade,

Is this a sliding set of doors or a regular door?

For sliding doors, have you looked at this site:

I would try calling your local glass and shower door company. They can likely order a replacement if they do not have one available.

I had a rubber strip similar to that one that came off the door... never replaced it and have had no problem with water leaking out in a few years now

It is a hinged door. Without it, the door will leak badly.

I think you can replace that whole metal channel, with the strip included. I recall doing that several years ago.

Wade,
Search Amazon for "shower door seals" and a whole bunch of things come up. At least one of them looked to me like it might work for you.

Good luck!

Wade,

I used to buy a lot of shower door hardware at CR Laurence, including (I think) that profile.

If it is the piece I am thinking of, I bought a replacement at a Borg store a few years back. Came in a roll and I cut it to length then installed it.

I bought this at Lowes. (It was only $2.75!)

I had to cut the first two ribs off, and the third fit loosely. It is then too short too be entirely satisfactory, but might work until I can find something better.
I am thinking maybe this will work.

Might have to change the extrusions. Very frustrating.

http://www.crlaurence.com/default.aspxSeconding this. CR Laurence is where 99% of these type of materials are sourced from. If the quantities are too much, Google the part number for re-sellers.

I got something like this one from Lowes, https://www.lowes.com/pd/Prime-Line-36-in-Gray-Vinyl-Tub-and-Shower-Door-Waterproof-Stripping/4774727, when I needed to replace the one at the bottom of the shower door. It had that same type of channel on the door that the seal seats into.

Cut it to length and you just pinch the metal ends onto it to hold it in place.

I stopped in a glass shop and they had something that will work. It isn't as tight to the door as I would like, but it should work.

Interestingly, a online company I emailed got back to me with the same product. But of course I didn't have a sample from them to try, so I will buy locally.
