Did a bit of "shopping today
371976
Took a little time to clean them up...
371977
Chisel is a 1-1/4" Clearcut. Eggbeater is by Defiance.....drill bits?
371978
One is a #5, the others are #4s .....$2 for the bits. Grand total for today? $20 + Sales Tax....
371979
Eggbeater was $10!. May repaint the handle a gloss black. Still looking for who made the drill bits...

Cleancut? Maybe a Stanley made for a hardware store brand?
371980
first saw the edge of the gear wheel...thought it was a M-F #5......guess not.

That chisel handle doesn't call out Stanley to me, but I'm no expert. Besides, handles get changed around enough that it doesn't mean much.

Not familiar with Cleancut but apparently they dealt more in axes and hatchets. Not sure if people pay a lot for them, but people sure ask a lot! Start researching cleancut axes and reference to clover logo and maybe you’ll stumble on chisel info (assuming they’re the same manuf).

Ok, the 5/16" bit is by Bates.....I have one 4/16" labeled as a solid center. and another 4/16" as an Irwin. The single flute 4/16" seems to have lost it's markings...

They had a coffee can FULL of auger bits.....These smaller bits were the sizes I needed.

Ok, a few cleaned up pictures?

Logo on the chisel. There was only one chisel in the stall.....and only one handle, seemed to be made for each other...
372089Drill's crank handle
DEFIANCE Made in USA
372090
Wire wheel was a nice way to clean out the teeth on the gears.....
372091
Chuck works very nice, all moving parts have been oiled. Jaws still have their springs.
Very little gear noise. Not a bad little drill.

Clearcut was a brand name used by George Worthington Co. of Cleveland, OH. At one time it was the largest Hardware supplier in the country.....35,000 items in their catalog.....
