Compressor Recommendations

Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker for a long time and I recently purchased my own laser. I've been working with Epilog's and Universal's at TechShop for three years but now they've gone bankrupt and I have a business to run!

It's an Epilog 60WT Helix model, used, that I found on eBay.

What I need is recommendations (with links hopefully!) to quiet compressors. I'll have it set up in my garage and don't want to annoy the neighbors. I have been scouring the forum already for what people have said but there are posts back from 2010 asking the same question, unfortunately they are no longer helpful due to expired links etc.

I don't have my heart set on any of those in particular, I just need guidance. And if I need to purchase any additional fittings to get them to work with my laser, that would be great to know too.

So, guidelines are QUIET and hopefully under $300...

California Air Tools, quiet, reliable compressors. Been running one about 2 years.

I'll second the California Air Tools and I'm not sure any of those you linked will provide enough air reliably. I would look at a 1hp hot dog style CAT, they are on sale for Black Friday at Home Depot right now. I have the bigger 10 gallon, 2hp model.

We use a larger compressor because we have several machines running off it. We built a small room and used sound proofing materiel and sound dampers as best as possible and added a Air intake and out take to keep it cool.The smaller the compressor the more often it has to power up. The neighbors are more likely to be annoyed by the fumes than the noise. Make sure you have it vent away from any of them if you don’t have a really good filtration system.
