Paint Subtop black = floating qaurtz?

This is what I had in mind:
23/32" subtop painted black that is set 1.5" back from the face of cabinet.
23/32" faces of drawers will put the subtop (black) roughly 2.25" back.
Countertop will be flush with faces of drawers.

Thoughts?

Tops flush with the face cause drips to trickle down the face of the cabinet. Overhanging the top fixes the problem. This may not matter if it is not a kitchen or vanity. Also if the top is flush, allow plenty of toe space depth so that you don't have to lean slightly forward to use the bench. Toe space needs to be 60-70mm at least. Cheers

Yes, that will give you a "floating top" look (was that your question?)

We usually hold the sub-top back just 3/4", but your numbers should work fine.

i will make sure the countertops protrude a little bit.

If you recess the subtop that far, what will happen at the sink? Are you removing most of the support for the granite in the narrow strip in front of the sink?
