Birth of pens

I thought some of you would like to see what I start with on some of my pens.
The first is a lilac bush root that I recieved today, and the next pic ,the top 4 pens were made from a root just like the new root, It has to dry for a while before I can use it. the bottom pen is from Spalted Maple.

I just love that Lilac Earl! I finally got permission to cut some big pieces out of our Lilac bush. Hopefully, I'll get to do a few pens this winter. Yours are beautiful as always! :)

Great Earl, if you had not told us what type of wood it was I would have thought those pens were made from Olive wood. Beautiful pens.
