Is stamp making still profitable and popular?

I've had a few recent requests, but it's not something we've ever offered. If we decide to start offering them, is Trodat the on stop shop for them? I read a few threads that talked about the stamps wreaking havoc on the lasers.

We make several hundred a year, I wouldn't say that it's a huge profit maker, especially with places like Ebay selling lesser expensive ones for fairly cheap.
I'm not sure what is being referred to about wreaking havoc, but the smoke is almost gritty like, and tends to cover everything inside the cabinet with dust.
There are different places to get them from I know Jackson Marking Products sells them also
