Finished this quilt rack for my mom. Now I need to build another for my wife. It's made of mahogany with loose tenon joinery. I used up the sapwood on this one, so there's some color variation. Finish is one coat of a 50/50 mix of Watco Fruitwood/Dark Walnut followed by 4 coats of Waterlox Original Sealer/Finish, all applied with a foam brush. I sanded with 400 grit before the final coat. Thanks for looking.

James...what a beautiful quilt rack! Great craftsmanship! Only problem...if my wife sees that I won't be able to produce one of equal quality......:( Fantastic work!

VERY nice job, James. I like the color, too, even though I'm not one for staining. More of a "Natural" look person.

WOW! James, That is beautiful work! Your craftsmanship is spectacular and I think your choice of finish was just what that mahogany needed to show off it's beauty! Great job!

James that is absolutely awesome. Love the color of the stain used. Great craftsmanship. Mom should be happy and the wife will be happy when she gets hers.

I've got to show this to my wife when she gets home. She is into quilting and been trying to find a nice quilt rack. James is this your own design or did you find the plans somewhere?
Very nice work!

Thanks for all the kind words. Each of my projects teaches me new techniques and highlights things to avoid.

Steve, the design idea came from Better Homes and Garden, but about the only thing I used was the top curvature.

Great work! Is that your design? I really like the detail of the top arch. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/images/icons/icon14.gif
