View Full Version : Dyed Maple Bowl

Ended up with a 8" maple bowl. Couple character marks but overall just a plain bland maple piece. After sanding, decided to treat it with black dye, sanded back and applied yellow dye and sanded back and them added red dye and sanded that back. finished off with clear rattle-can lacquer and 0000 steel wool. Nothing special, just a little better than an almost nondescript plain maple piece.

David, you're dying technique is amazing!!!
Love what you have done with this bowl. Super thin and very well done!!!

Thanks Daryl. My technique isn't much more than throwing mud up against the wall and seeing if anything sticks. I'd like to have a little bit more understanding/skill of mixing colors for desired artistic effects but I think that's a left brain/right brain thing and I'm on the opposite side of the equation.
