I had some leftover hard maple so I made a new mallet today. Nothing crazy but it should do the job. I would have preferred a longer and thicker handle but i used what i had. I used hand tools for most of it except for the drill press to hog out the mortise and a belt sander to clean it up. While I was chiseling out the mortise for the handle I came to the conclusion that I needed a good set of mortising chisels.

That is a good looking mallet. My wive calls 'em hubby clubs.

Do you have a way to weigh it?

I can't imagine what she would call a cast-iron frying pan!

I often use a mallet as a prop at the farmers market.

As folks walk by I ask if they know anyone who is mallet adjusted.

Or at other times my comment is about Abraham Lincoln who said, "… With mallets towards none."
