Thanks guys – this aborted post is further evidence (although no more evidence is clearly needed) of my IT ineptitude. Hopefully there's another post above that includes pictures/descriptions (oh Lord please let that be true!).

Respectfully, your IT challenge friend Mike

Mike,

With me it is not only IT but OF's as well. I've looked at your other post on the tool chest and as with all your builds....awesome!

P.S. North up is boring, it's on everything. Now north down shows your independent mind, that you walk your own path.:D

P.P.S. When I built my tool chest it was to be a traveling chest as well. I also suffer from if a little bit is good a lot more is better and the chest ended up about the same size as yours. It will never work as a travel chest but even though my shop is small and overloaded with tools and I like my tools on the wall I found a place for the chest in front of the saw and one of the chisel tills by moving them just a little. It has turned out to be very handy for holding the tools I use some but not every day and freeing up a lot of space on the walls. Pretty much a good addition to the shop.

Really nice chest Mike. Is this an original design or did you score plans from somewhere?

I'll post this over here, as I don't want to detract from the excellent build thread...

Maybe add a saw til to the lid?

Mike - just awesome work as always. The trays look great, makes me cringe to think how long it would have taken me just to build the trays. Thanks for sharing.

Joe, the design/plans come from Chris Schwarz book "The Anarchist Tool Chest", which I highly recommend not just for the chest plans, but for is thoughtful description of the essential hand tool woodworker's kit. I'm sure reasonable people can disagree, but for me I think Chris's description of hand tools and how to accommodate them in a single chest is super helpful. I frequently recommended it to people who ask about what tools they need to get started with woodworking.

BTW, I love your avatar! It captures the same sense of peace and relaxation I used to get from Vin Scully's voice saying "hello friends and welcome to Dodger baseball"!

Spending most of my life around a bay about 400 miles north made me a fan of different game callers. One of my favorites is Russ Hodges:

The rookie on deck caused a few problems for the Dodgers in the years to follow. (#24 Willie Mayes)

This Vin Scully call is likely a favorite of his fans when the Dodgers played against the other bay area team:

It was a heartbreaker for many folks.

Thanks a lot JK for the links to the baseball videos! Your absolute right Willie Mays was one of the greats. I love the statue they have in front of him in front of Giants new/current downtown ballpark.

The Kirk Gibson homerun is classic (at least for dodger fans). Here's hoping the Boys in Bluehave more success in the playoffs this year than the last couple years.

Cheers, Mike

Very nice tool chest! I'm planning to build one, myself, using the same plans from The Anarchist's Tool Chest.

What material did you use?

Edit: Nevermind, just found your other post. :)

I have a question/problem with my tool chest. The chest that I found on Craigslist came with a broken saw till and no sliding trays. I replaced the saw till yesterday and put the first replacement tray in. Saw till is fine; the tray... not so much. The first tray that I built is square as is the chest and about 1/8 inch narrower than the inside of the chest. Slides fine if you grab it exactly in the center and jams every time if you&#39; are a little off. Should I make the next tray longer ( 1/16 inch play ) or narrower ( 1/4 inch play )? These are dovetailed - oak on the narrow ends, maple on the long side.</p>
