I've had the N4400 for 7 years now. It's a solid machine, and has been very reliable to date.
The one area that I have been disappointed in is the fence. It is rock solid, easy to adjust ... but it lacks a scale, which would make it easier to set up quickly. I finally decided to do something about that this weekend.
I used a steel scale in mm (I prefer mm when working with small units, plus all the Hammer A3-31 I have works in mm). This was attached to the side of the table by drilling and tapping a thread into the cast iron. The holes in the scale are slotted for adjustment.

Read the scale against the edge of the fence ...
