My latest efforts; I wanted to try some open air and shapes w/ out getting the project really busy so you can see and appreciate the woods grain.

9" D x 18" Tall Sapel, Maple & Mahogany.

Super nice job. Where did the design idea come from ? Just curious.

Super nice job. Where did the design idea come from ? Just curious.Robert Thank you for your kind words: Before I make a piece I spend time surfing the web looking for shapes, this is a classic shape w/ my twist added. I don't glue up the whole vase all at once, I make rings and add them or take them away thin them down etc. and get what I'm after. Some do this on paper I would rather see it 3 - D w/ the colors of the wood I'm working with. The pattern in the segments I just made up in my mind; I like some of the ones I've seen but was trying not to copy any ones work.

Here's some updated photos; I was able to get a glass liner for this piece and it's now on display in my home.
