what a beast!!
gave the iron a quick grind and hone(really needs more), works well,somewhat scary with that exposed blade
the plane s used as shown, upside down and the work piece is moved over the plane

Interesting! I've never seen a metal one before. All I've ever seen have been all wood.

ive seen wooden ones too on utube
this must have been quite a big investment back in the day
a family member bought it from a retiring cooper in England along with a variety of other traditional tools
he gave it to me to get it operational
the big advantage of it would be that the work piece does not have to be clamped to a bench for fine tuning but using it is scary

Not nearly as scary as a powered jointer though!
