I'm going to make a new larger top for my outfeed table. I know to use a 20 mm bit. Festool used to make a router bit, but per a phone call to corporate this is no longer sold in the USA.

I'm looking for an alternative. Something that isn't $200. I'm open to any and all options! I have the festool 32 track and router attachments.

Thanks!

Lee Valley (http://www.leevalley.com/us/wood/page.aspx?p=72602&cat=1,41637) has a drill setup but, not a router bit. A search on Amazon for "20mm router bit" yielded three 1/4" shank bits.

I purchased this bit from Amazon and drilled some holes in my work bench with it. The festool clamps fit just fine. I just laid mine out with a ruler as I won't be using the festool tracks just wanted it to be able to clamps things to my workbench.

"MFT" is the Festool designation for their various MultiFunction Tables.

I've used this bit and guide on my work bench and it worked great, but I think for a MFT you might want to look at having someone with a CNC drill your top for dead on accuracy.

I used the Festool (491072) 20mm router bit and it worked well. I bought mine from Anderson Plywood in LA and as of today, they still show a couple in stock. The holes were just a tad larger than the MFT table top and my 20mm Parf dogs were a very minor looser fit but have not impacted functionality.

I have an auto cad file that has blueprints for one that is exactly the same as festool top, But it has Handles that are routed into the sides.

I made mine 4x8' and have it bracketed into a table I built in my garage/shop.

......

If you are just looking for something smaller I would just buy this

+1 on the UJK Parf system that Greg linked. I have done DIY MFTs with both the LR32 and the UJK and while the hand drill/guide method with the UJK kit is slower, it produces dead accurate results. There are different ways to get an accurate, square grid using the LR32 as well, but it's a little trickier IMHO.

Lee Valley sells the UJK system. A good alternative to having easy access to a CNC.

It's more like 5 square feet and it is made to fit a specific tool. Also includes freight like all Festool prices, on an item that isn't cheap to ship.
It only makes sense if you have that specific MFT and need a replacement top.
