try Rub n' buff--
367792

works good on rock- takes some rubbing to get it off the smooth but it hangs on the etching nicely. Hobby stores, lots of colors--

I've never had much luck with color filling marble but if you use Rub n Buff the solvent is mineral spirits. Take a perfectly flat piece of plastic or wood and wrap it tightly with a lint free cloth such as a rag from an old bed sheet; put a little ms on it and see if that will clean up the excess without removing the fill.

I did a Piece this weekend.
We left the mask in place and used an airbrush to color fill. We used auto colors, so the color was permanent and uv fast.

Looked great! I wish I took a pic of the piece though...
