Molly Winton inspired Platter -10" in diameter and 1.75" high. Turned , sanded, put some tung oil on it and then I burned in detail on the rim. Letting it cure for a couple weeks and will finish with some Krylon -Matte Finish 1311.

Jim, I like what you have done with this! I use Krylon Matte often and on your piece I think matte on the pyro and a satin finish on the remainder would really add to the piece. It would accent the pyro and let the Walnut show it's beauty. You can apply WOP over the Krylon. Even gloss would work.

I've heard a number of people say walnut isn't that great for pyrography because of the darkness of the wood but this is very nice looking piece Jim. Good job.

As much pyro as I have done, I would not have thought to do it on walnut, but I generally don't burn that dark either. Excellent Job!!

Guild it with gold or silver. Sometihing to highlight the pyro against the dark background.

Same here, when I saw the title of this thread I wasn't expecting much. But on your piece, Jim, the deep texture really makes the piece!
