Several places on the concrete slabs around our house have rust stains.
What are the prefered methods of dealing with this problem?

Try Lime-Away or Iron Out. Follow the instructions on the bottles.

Muriatic(hydochloric) acid may also do the job, if you have some of that handy.

You can also try a product called CLR.........I think it stands for Calcium, Lime and Rust. I know it works great for removing rust stains from clothing, especially when the local municipality flushes the fire hydrants and you water get rusty brown colored and stains your white laundry. I think it works great on concrete surfaces too.

Rust is a toughy to get out of concrete.....Jason and Kevin have already posted what solutions I could provide you as a possibility. Good luck and let me know how it goes. I have a few stains to remove as well.

Thanks for the input guys. Will pick up some CLR today and give that a try first. Never even thought of that. And after Paul Harvey had said how good it is too. Will let you know the results.
