Thus far, whenever I've wanted to protect a painted finish (either oil or water based paint) I've used water based polyurethane. I've been happy with the results, but was wondering what everyone else uses for this application. Am I missing a better product?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Sounds good to me, Mike! The only thing I would do differently is add a coat or two of SealCoat shellac before the WB poly.

I just finished a bath cabinet and used a spray lacquer over paint with amazing results. Hard durable finish and nice sheen. If you don't have an HVLP you can always buy a few cans of spray lacquer from the borg.
