I need a bit of help from the group wisdom if you will. I found this miter box at an antique/thrift/junk shop that was going out of business. So far I am not able to identify the maker or year. there is no tags, labels ect. The only numbers are patent dates on the (sliders?? saw blade holders??) and the indexing arm underneath. The saw that came with it has a fair etch, but I am not sure if it is the original that came with it. I think the saw dates between 1928 until the 1940s. Any help is appreciated. Oh and BTW I am NOT the one who painted and "restored" it.

Goodell-Pratt, by Millers Falls. Saw would be original. Disston only made the saws, not the boxes. Colours MAY be original.....Add a 3/8" thick wood deck, and put it to work..

What size is the saw?

Was made after the move from Miller Falls to Greenfield....

From saw teeth to top of the back 5 inches. From end of blade to end of blade 25 inches. From tip of blade to end off horn 31 inches. Sorry not sure how they measure these saws.
From the Directory of american tool and machinery parts I fond a saw guide patent that fits the date for a Stanley miter box.... Hummm ... gett'n even more confused...LOL

Ok I think I've got it now, It's a Stanley 50 1/2, with a miss matched saw. Now on to the hunt for a parts list and some instructions on how to set it up properly. Cuts a good 90 and a dead on 45 but the saw cut is rough and it feels "wobbly" in the saw guide.
