View Full Version : Laserworks - Engraving a test grid

When testing for optimum power, speed, etc. settings using a test grid of small rectangles, because there are so many possible power/speed combinations, setting the power and speed for each individual rectangle on the grid is time consuming. If each rectangle on the test grid could be assigned a power value and then the speed changed "globally" for all the rectangles on the test grid, instead of setting the speed for each individually, this would save a lot of time.

Is the ability to perform a "global" speed change available in Laserworks v6?

Thank you
Roger

The only way to make one grid / area different from another is to assign power and speed setting to a color. That needs to be done color for color.

What I do is make ten 1/2" squares, park them top to bottom in a column.
Color them 10 different colors. In the settings, give each color, from top to bottom, power settings of 10%, 20%, etc to 100%...
(or make it 20 colors and 5% power increments, it's all up to you :) )
Now pick a speed, say 500mm/sec, and engrave the first column.
Now move or copy the column 1/2" right, and engrave at 450mm/sec...
just repeat this in any speed increment you want. The only real work involved is drawing up the first column.

To make an entire grid engrave all in one shot, not practical ;)

Kevin,

Thank you for the idea, that is the solution for which I was searching.
