Can my 80 watt Trotec cO2 laser engrave on Titanium carbo-nitride? I have a friend that wants some knives engraved and they have this coating on them.

should work with Cermark but not sure-- 80 watts might mark it directly too... like so much of this line of work, what's going to happen is a crap shoot!

Cermark won't look real good in my opinion on a knife, but if there is a spot on spine, try direct. Fiber would be better....

TiCN not nice...probably not wise to try a CO2 on it as it will do a very good job of being a mirror :)

Fiber every time, it's the same coating on CNC cutting tips in many cases and those are done with Fibers

I did 2 knives coated like this on a Trotec 400 at 120 watts using Cermark. Took 2 passes at 100 power to reallly get the marking to show up crisp. They came out well, but it was a complete trial and error process. I would not try to engrave directly with co2. But if that’s all you have, cermark could be the way.
