Well summer has been rather warm this year, or perhaps I am just an old man talking about the weather. There was a song about that some time back...."As long as old men sit and talk abut the weather.....As long as old women sit and talk about old men..."

There are many songs of summer. Maybe because it is the favorite season of so many folks.

Summer time, summer time, sum sum summer time (the Jamies) > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeNAgBFmJpM

In the Summer time (Mongo Jerry) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvUQcnfwUUM

The Mississippi Squirrel Revival (Ray Stevens) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K16fG1sDagU

Sunny Afternoon (The Kinks) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLs09J_x6-c

Summertime (Janis Joplin) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLs09J_x6-c

The Ella Fitzgerald version is also worth a listen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XivELBdxVRM

There are more, but SWMBO is calling me to dinner.

Yes, yes it is. It is HOT. As a farmer, I (and many others everywhere) work outside, in the sun, in the heat, in appropriate working attire. I'm sweating buckets by the end of the day. It's even hotter in town too. Oh, and don't say old folks talk about weather, I talk about weather. You're making me feel old Rich!:p

Through June wasn't bad here. I spent 8 days in Lincoln, NE for work starting on the 5th and it was HOT there. One morning it was 80 and near 100% humidity at dawn and a few days it 110 for the heat index mid-afternoon. Luckily the plant I was at is fully air conditioned as they couldn't control the process without. Now back at home and its not quite that bad but still pretty bad. I lost over 4lbs on my run this morning, no joke. I was seriously considering cooling off/rinsing off with the hose when I got back home.

110 degrees inside my shop.....80%+ humidity.....no air stirring....36" fan moves nothing but more hot/humid air. I'm way past ready for winter.

Yeah its hot, but its the Japanese beetles that are driving me crazy.

This may be a somewhat smelly solution but we had Japanese beetles and then a couple summers ago something started digging up the lawn in a few spots. One moonlit night we spotted the culprit(s) - skunks. Japanese beetle grubs are apparently a delicacy. I reseeded what was dug up and still find a small spot excavated once in a while. The Japanese beetle population has dropped WAY down and we haven't been treated to any close-the-windows odors for quite a while.

this (https://flic.kr/p/VF81N5) is why it's summer. Someone flipped this switch.

Heat Wave, Martha and the Vandellas

Dancin' in the Streets is another Vandellas tune that always makes me think of summer, though isn't specifically about summer. My Dad turned me on to it. I'd only heard the David Bowie/Mick Jagger version and didn't realize it was a remake! (For some reason, the Vandellas version makes me think of summer but the Bowie/Jagger version doesn't. Strange, huh?)

Same here. I am usually dripping with sweat by 10am, then put on a dry shirt when I come in for lunch. But I must be getting old. Some days when it's over 90 I just don't feel as enthusiastic about working out in the sun. :) But for some reason the animals still want to eat and the weeds keep growing.

Fortunately I was able to well insulate my shop and add heat and air. Even with the thermostat set at 80 or so it feels like an icebox when I go inside for something.

Hmmm. high of 25C today.

This has been a very cool, wet summer for us.

In between rain storms I'm trying to build a shed, given the weather I should have picked a hovercraft.............Regards, Rod.

Dry heat in the shade is very tolerable. I was sitting outside in 107 degree heat in the desert a few years ago and it wasn't bad sitting in the shade. It was HOT in the sun.

Way better than 107 degrees when it is humid. If I was in 107 degree humid weather I would be sick with heat exhaustion in no time. I got mild heat exhaustion earlier this month and it was only maybe 85 degrees with a dew point of 60 degrees or less.

If your getting heat exhaustion in 85 degree weather your not drinking enough water, plain and simple.
Yes if your in the shade high temps are more tolerable but if your not hydrated you will very quickly get heat exhaustion and may not even know it till its to late. On a 100 degree riding down a black asphalt highway on an M/C in bright sun the rider is experiencing temps in the 130 degree range or more.Very easy to get heat strke in a very short amount of time if your not dressed right and hydrated.

I have had bouts of heat exhaustion even after drinking huge amounts of water. One time I got sick even after drinking enough water to have needed to urinate every 90 minutes or so.

The very first time I got heat exhaustion I was definitely not dressed appropriately for the heat nor did I drink enough water. I have issues with heat ever since that first bout with heat exhaustion.

I'm not sure a guy from Minnesota and a guy from Arizona can have a meaningful argument about this topic since your bodies will have adapted to the different climates. ;)
