I recently purchased a Universal VLS 3.5. I have been using a VLS 2.3 for roughly 2 years.

We are doing quite a bit of acrylic, wood and Stainless work, not a crazy about of cutting.

I am venting into a residential area and wanted to ensure it is not incredibly stinky.

Attached is my proposed system. a 48x12x12" box with a bounce plate, cascading filters, carbon canister with a 8" 750 cfm exhaust.

The top will be hinged with a rubber gasket and latch.

Cost is right at $320 right now.

Am I going crazy overboard? Any suggestions? Anything you would change?

Any advice is appreciated!

I tried one of those charcoal filters once, it's designed for grow ops recirculating the air through it many times, not for lasers. The laser exhaust came through it as if it wasn't even there, smoke, smell, the works. It was a nice diffuser though, very slow vapour coming through haha. This was even with a reallllly low powered fan to try to see if even running the air through it super slow to give it more dwell time in the charcoal would help.

I just taped a 4" hose on and covered up the lid to see if it would work, it was hit by a forklift so the top was dented, which allowed me to get it 70% off.

I am using that same exhaust fan but not the filter. They are both cheap enough to try. I go outside when the machine is running and really do not notice a smell, but I am perhaps 200 feet from my nearest neighbor.

How far away is your closes Neighbor ???
If this is a permanent setup and you can go out the roof this would be best the bet, no filter needed. For $300 you could pay someone to add a small roof vent, its not hard to do (Installed four myself ontop of my warehouse)

Add the simple filter you posted from amazon and see if that works - Dont go crazy on the filter setup if you dont need it, Small filter will probably do just fine.
