Lately, I been trying to up my game, and turn out prettier, nicer, more accurate stuff.

So, I was just reading the excellent thread about squares, and recall that in making some jigs and such around the shop, that I have been laminating two pieces together lengthwise to protect against warpage. You know, w the grain opposing any tendency to warp.

I look at some of those beautiful shop made squares, and think......don't they move a little (notice I'm not asking if it matters).

QS stuff is great when you have it-if it is straight grained.....QS is the most safe against warpage, right?

What species/cut do you all use in those 2 and 3 foot thin boards?

Does anyone else laminate shop made stuff?

Thanks guys, David

For me I have a very nice clear piece of Alaskan yellow cedar that stays very straight.I also have a good chunk of Honduras Mah that's holding a 45 and I use that for shooting miters.
My last is a 4 ft long stick of Macassar Ebony that stays very flat and straight.
So I don't have anything that's laminated I just keep a eye out for left overs that behave.I keep the good ones and throw out the rest.
