I picked up a really nice old Goodell-pratt 494 lathe that came with a bunch of stuff I wasn't expecting. I knew there was an attachment to use it as as a metal lathe, but I didn't expect to be able to use it as as a scroll saw, buffing station attachment and more. Can anyone point me toward a manual or is there anyone here that has one and would be willing to answer some questions?

Couldn't find a manual but this link might help you.

I have had one for about 20 years, I have never found a manual. I also have 2 of the smaller ones. Fun to play with, on the smaller ones, one I hooked up to a PSI variable speed motor, small enough for travel and or carry out to the backyard to mess with.

that a really cool looking old lathe, gotta love the tablesaw and scrollsaw attachments.

apparently it should have a morse taper #1 in the headstock and a mt #0 in the tailstock. might be tricky finding modern attachments in such a small size, ive never seen a live centre with mt 0!

Thanks for the help. The catalog will also help me identify some of the pieces. Its got the original motor, the fret saw attachment, the slide unit for when its a metal lathe, a lot of centers, the 3-jaw chuck, buffing spindle, the countershaft and some other stuff I don't see in the catalog. I'm kicking myself because I discarded the table saw attachment not realizing what it was. I'll be posting some pics later today/tonight.

The Sherline lathe has a 0 mt in the tailstock, and 1mt in the headstock. Live centers, drill chucks, etc are available from Sherline or Amazon.

It should have 1-8 tpi threaded spindle, mine does. I use my collet chuck on mine.
