long time lurker, so I decided to share!!

ive been trning for several years, started with a little 4 speed benchtop, typical "motor on a door hinge", graduated to a 4 speed beaver, then added a jackshaft for 8 speeds.

had this old craftmaster for several years, 12+ speeds, reversible 1hp hoover motor, and a pile or modern attachments

made in london Ontario in the late 40's

Nice looking old lathe, i'm sure it serves you well.
BTW, just so happens i've been to London Ontario. Beautiful part of Canada.

it does serve me very well. i make and sell stuff at artisan's markets, so somedays it will run all day.

lowest speed is around 250 rpm, highest is a dizzying 4000 plus, i never go that high of course

the electrical switch on the motor itself is a reversing switch, main power is the leg of the stand. the reversing switch is a double pole, double throw wired into the start circuit. motor draws 16 amps on 120, so its wired for 240

headstock is standard 1-8 tpi, mt2, 1-8 tpi lh on the outboard end. tailstock is mt2

craftmaster, aka henry power tools, made all the machinist vices for the entire allied forces during ww2, just some obscure history!
