I read Nick Arnull's book Contemporary Woodturning, which I highly recommend. One of the projects was a hanging vase. He used heavy carving and embellishments on his vase and it was very beautiful. I thought I would give it a try. I used Mulberry for the vase and after turning the form I realized how pretty the wood was and there is a nice feather on one side. I decided I would forego any attempts to embellish or color it and keep it as it was. I did the stand in a flat black to try to keep it as underwhelming as possible to make the vase the center of attention. My photos aren't the best but are better than my past ones! This was a really fun project. I learned several things doing it, but overall I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. It will find a home in my wife's office at work. Comments and especially critiques are welcome, I'm still learning here! 361242361243361244
