A while back I bought a lot of tools at an estate and I'm left with a whole bunch of router cutters and I can't find which router it goes with. Those small 1/4" cutters don't fit Stanley 71 or 71-1/2, Veritas or Stanley 271. Any idea?

The left cutter is for a Stanley 271, the centre one is the mysterious one and the one the right is a regular cutter for Stanley 71.

Good morning Normand, that looks just like one of the cutters that came with my Sargent #62.

Thanks for your help Jim. The following picture shows a different kind of cutter and I believe that it would fit a Sargent because the vertical portion of the cutter has multiple notch.

While looking for some info I found a Record router plane.

It really look like mine.

Not sure of the timeline on this, but I have heard Record licensed Stanley designs.

My Sargent router also looks pretty much like a Stanley router.

As for the multi notched cutter I haven't seen that before. Do the notches look like factory originals?

Interesting. It looks a lot like the original design of the cutters on the Stanley 71/71-1/2.

Yes, the notches are original. If you look here,
http://www.jimbodetools.com/SARGENT-No-62-Router-Plane-with-3-8-inch-Cutter-p50811.html
you will see a Sargent router but have a close look at the nut used to adjust the depth. It's outside diameter is a large screw that fit into the notches of the cutter.

That is an interesting design with the threaded piece to adjust the cutter depth.

My Sargent router plane doesn't have that feature.

There are a few on the auction site. Rust bucket grade with bids ~$32 and what looks mint with box ~$200 from the UK.
