I've found one locally for sale with very little use. The owner bought it new with big plans for it, & then as it turned out, he didn't use it as much he thought he would. Anybody have one? Do you use it much? Does it do everything Jet says it will? I'm mainly interested in it because of my scroll work. I believe it would save some wear & tear on my planer, & be an excellent machine for clean up work after I've finished a project on the saw. Especially on delicate projects. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you for your time. Brad.

I love mine, although I use it less since getting spiral headed planer and jointer. My only regret is that I wish I'd gotten a somewhat bigger/more powerful sander. This was my first (and so far, only) belt sander and I didn't really appreciate how slooow these things go. My main use for it was getting figured wood down to final thickness without tearout, which it did well, just slower than I liked. I also use it when I really need a certain, perfect thickness, as in making my own Domino stock. Works great for that as you can reliably take off very tiny amounts of thickness.

I'm not sure how it will do on "delicate" stuff, since that wasn't how I used it, but seems like with a fine grit belt it'd work ok. I think the amount of wear saved on your planer would be minimal; any decent lunchbox style planer will take off in one pass what the 10/20 will need a dozen passes to remove. It's really not in any way a planer.

Hope that helps.

Ken

I use my 10-20 on just about every project I do. Excellent machine, for me. I don't know about using it on delicate scroll work, never tried it. I'm sure it would put more stress on a piece than a lightly applied ROS.

If you want to send me a test piece, I'd be happy to experiment on it for you. If so, PM me.

I bought a used 10-20 and used it quite a bit for quite a while. Then I graduated to a 16-32.
