I'm looking at buying an old Powermatic Model 60 8" Jointer and thought it prudent to at least look at the cost and availability of common replacement parts such as belts and cutters. So far finding parts using the old part number hasn't given any results. The part number in the owner's manual is 6427002. Any suggestions before I spend any more time on this possible buy? Am I missing something obvious?

Knives, belts, and bearings are all standard items available from a variety of sources. Some other parts may be available from Powermatic or Redmond Machinery. That's a great jointer if there's nothing major wrong with it.

The old round head Powermatic 60 would best use a 13/16 x 1/8 x 8" knife. The safety type heads introduced in the late 70s would take a 3/4" blade instead of a 13/16. That size is so common that the Asian importers are offering it in their soft high speed steel at discount prices. The stock number you quote was for the 60A and the 60B, neither of which could be classified as "old". That stock number is for the 3/4" x 1/8" x 8" knife commonly found. Bearings for most of the older 60s would be 6204LL and R12LL. The newer models take a couple of 6203LL bearings.
