Based on a design presented at the GA Turning Symposium I am building my own thread cutting machine. I have most all the parts but need a thread cutter that will go in my lather spindle. Any recommendations as to source? TIA

I bought a used one off of the auction site, search " 60 degree double angle cutter". Make sure you get one with a shank that fits your tool holder. I use my collet chuck so about any size shank will work as long as I have that collet size. The commercial thread machine sellers also sell the cutters, they will be new ones, but my used $15 cutter works great for me.

Both McMaster-Carr and MSC have the cutter suggested above.

60 degree cutters will work but I suggest that you look for a 90 degree. 60 is pretty much the standard in metal but 90 is the most recommended for wood.

90 degree threads are less likely to chip and break off.
