I finally finished turning the ambrosia maple bowl blank I bought from Jim Ketron and want to share it. This bowl is 9 1/2" in diameter, 3" deep, and about 1/2" thick. I wanted to keep it thick so it had heft, and so the bark inclusion on the edge was more prominent.

Thanks for looking.

Nice looking bowl Keith. I like that shape a lot. I see Jim is exporting wood to all the states and how many foreign countries? :p ;)

Are my eyes playing tricks or does that wood have some nice curl in it?

Thanks for you kind words. Yes, It does have curl. That is really great because there is not much in the way of ambrosia markings. This wood was a pleasure to turn.

Nice work Keith! It's good of you to leave some bark. It added a nice touch of character

Nice Bowl Keith! Nice curl in that piece.
Kinda shocked about it not having any streaks I thought I made sure everyone I sold had some in it:o
But the nice curl makes up for some of the missing streaks.

Thanks for the kind words Jim. I was a bit disappointed that there were no streaks in this blank, but I did find streaks in some others.

The curl more than makes up for the lack of streaks.
