This was a fun project. Bought an assortment of pewter lids online and exotic wood blanks. The wood blanks I found locally were 4" x 4" x almost 2" so didn't know if it would work out but I received helpful informating here on how to use glue blocks. The size ended up being perfect (only one coat of teak oil on it now):
