While slicing up a good sized cherry burl log, I made a few rectangular shaped pieces to make a few vases and this was the first finished one. 8 1/2" high twice turned to 1/4" thick wall with a little burning at the top. Walnut oil and 3 step buff finish.

Thanks Bill & daryl. Need to up my photo set-up for a piece like this because these photos don't do the figure in this wood justice.

Beautiful vase David. Did you let the walnut oil sit and cure for a while before buffing or did you buff right after applying the oil?

I let this one sit for a little over 2 weeks.

Please pardon my ignorance, but why wait after oiling before buffing?

Just giving the walnut oil a chance to dry/cure before final buff.
