I found this on Craigslist yesterday and picked it up today.

The gentlemen selling it turned 1 bowl when he bought it new ... been sitting in his shop untouched for the last 2 years.

I paid $1800 for it, which did include all the factory parts and pieces and an adapter on the spindle to reduce it down to 1" X 8 threads per inch.

I'm feeling good about it, what do you all think?

That is a pretty good deal for a lightly used lathe........congrats, Tim!

Good goin' Tim. Looks to be a nice lathe at a good price. I like the small basket underneath; not too large, open so it doesn't collect chips and close by for quick retrieval of tools.

That's a great lathe - I think you will love it! Not a bad price for one that is basically new.

I've had one for maybe 15 years and a few years ago bought a second, well used one for a spare - for not much less than that. I got a PM last year but I still use the 1642 a lot.

Thanks for posting your new machine Tim. Been thinking about adding a second lathe and a used 1642 is one possibility. Missed a chance for this machine at auction last week in Dayton, OH area. This 2hp version went for $1,500.00. Not nearly as spiffy as yours but gives me an idea what these are going for. Enjoy your big dog!

Tim, that's a nice lathe. It's nice to get a nice lathe at a good price. Make a lot of chips.
