( Added this after original post: Because of medical problems I haven't been in the shop for a couple of weeks )

Had a good 3 hours in the shop today. I turned 5 Flat Top Rollerball pens. I also prepped blanks(cut, drilled and glued in tubes) fo 20 Flat Top American pens.

Like Gene Autry use to sing: "Back in the saddle again"

Ken, I'm glad to see your back in the saddle again and I'm glad the medical problems are behind you. I sure hope the medical problems stay way behind you. I'm no way even close to your talent but I'm sure going to do my best to get there someday.:p

Ken,

Bet it felt good to get out & do some turning. Glad to see you're getting better so quick from the surgery.

We all knew that you can't keep a good man down :D

Hi Ken,

Those are great looking pens! I'm glad you're feeling well enough to get out in the shop again! Seeing your pens reminded me that this month's Pens For Friends (PFF) style is the Americana. We're sponsoring a 911 Call Center this month. You might want to consider joining in with nice pens like that! If you need more info, let me know.

Scott.

E-Mail me the details Scott -- I have no idea what you are referring to

Ken, the pens look great. I typically use the Hut-coat finish, but I am not entirely satisfied with it. What do you use and how fine a grit do you sand to?

I use Hut's Crystal Coat followed by Hut's Stick Wax. I sand 120, 150, 220, 350, 600 and then burnish with chips (equal to about 1000 grit.
