This was a really fun project, I am really enjoying getting into the tools of traditional Japanese carpenter. I am far from Japanese but I really like the philosophy and thought process behind the work. Plus I just enjoy learning how to use/make different things.

I mainly wanted to make one since I had seen a few online for sale and I didn't have the budget to justify one at this point. Plus if you can work with wood, why not make your own tools?

Anyways, thanks for looking!

Well that's cool!

thanks Will! My only problem I've developed with it is that the x-acto blade walks a bit on harder woods. I really need a proper blade for it

Dan, I liked your video. I need to make a good marking gage. When I do I will use a piece of hack saw blade or band saw blade for the cutter.

That's an excellent idea Michael, had I not just purchased another one of the blades that Hida tool sells I would do the same thing. Thanks for the idea!
