I know some of the thinner laserable stuff comes with 3M adhesive attached; but what do most people use for the 1/16" or 1/32" Rowmark or Gemini Duets products to adhere it to wood? Does 3M make adhesive sheets that are strong enough to hold a little more weight (semi) permanently? Normally 3M double sided tape would be my go-to, but it's way too think for this.

I'm doing name plates for some lockers, which complicates things a bit because the customer would like to be able to "eventually remove them".

If the lockers are in a locker/shower room then use 3M 467mp; otherwise use TESA 4970 Tuff Tape. Both are available from Johnson Plastics.

Thanks Mike!

That stuff ain't cheap, especially the larger rolls of the 3M. But I guess I'll just try to pass the cost on to the customer.

google "Bron Tapes". They sell a yellow backed tape (BT 3869), pretty sure it's the same stuff as the TESA 4970, it works like gangbusters. Bron will cut it to any width you want, and theirs costs lots less...

JP wants 15.50 for a 3/4" roll, I just paid $8.80 for the same size, and a 1-1/4" wide roll was $14.45. My receipts for wider tape are hidden in last year's paperwork, sorry!
but you get the idea-- I'm lucky enough to have a Bron outlet in town too...

Thanks Kev.

Just out of curiosity, it looks like the Bron BT 3869 is PVC based. Guessing the TESA is too then. That would mean it is not laserable then, right?

I can't be certain but I don't believe Tesa tape is pvc based In any event I have cut through it with the laser.

My sheet stock supplier (Trotec Canada) will apply adhesive backing on any sheet I request for additional $15.00 on full sheet.

Here are some of 3M pressure sensitive tapes to use: 467MP, 468MP, 9502, 9505
I buy them in 12"x60 or 12"x180 yards rolls and apply them with a 25" Drytac roll laminator .

Thanks all. Great suggestions as always.

Ross, I definitely chuckled when I followed that link. Simplest is always best, unfortunately in this case the client wants the new nameplates to match the old ones and they are attached with an adhesive.
