I would look on forrestry forum for a sawyer in that area. Many have wood for sale.

Brandon Berdoll outside of Austin has mesquite, pecan, and large slabs in stock - all kiln dried. Great guy to work with too.

Mesquite and Red Oak seem to be popular/available locally in Texas.

Mason's suggestion of the WoodFinder web site is spot-on. This is a great resource for finding the major wood vendors as well as the small sawyers and specialist dealers in your area.

I've never had much luck with woodfinder. Maybe they're just not prevalent is the SE.

Ha Mark! Me too (in Huntsville). When I search the 10 closest to my zip, I get Woodcraft and Rockler. My "local" wood supplier is only about 10 miles from my house. Though they don't sell exotic, so maybe that's why it isn't showing up?

I moved here from Georgia and it was the same theee. Just Rockler and Woodcraft.
