During my hospital stay last September and October my coffee maker died. My doctors told me my coffee intake should be less than it was. So now instead of having a pot of coffee everyday my habit has changed to brewing one cup and not necessarily every day. We still have a Melita coffee pot and cone filter holder. For me there is no reason to use the pot as an intermediary. The problem is getting the filter holder to balance on top the cup. Usually lean it agains something tall on the counter.
So in a brilliant flash it came to me, make something out of wood to hold the cone on top the cup:
357733
It is actually fairly simple:

My largest forstner bit was used to drill out the ends. Rasps and chisels were used to smooth the oval. It needed a couple cuts with a small gouge to make room for the side wings on the plastic cone.
It makes brewing coffee a bit easier.
