Hi everyone,

I'm attempting to build up my set of water stones and have decided on the Shapton pro 1000, 5000,and 8000 stones. I already have the 5000 and 8000 sitting on my workbench but am having trouble finding the 1000 in stock anywhere. Anyone know of any places that have stock?

I really like my Shapton Pro 1000. Very good stone. I highly recommend it. Hopefully it will be back available soon. Maybe tools from japan has some:

Same here. It cuts very quickly. The difference between the 1000 and the 1500 is astonishing. The 1000 cuts fast and the 1500 cuts slowly like a much higher grit stone. I go from the 1000 to the 1500 to the 5000 to the 12,000. Starting to get good results. (I'm new at it). I'm also finding that my new stones are working better now after a break in period.

Amazon has the Shapton 1000 in stock. It's not the Pro version but most people say there is no difference. All of my Shapton stones are the non pro version.

A couple of weeks ago I spoke to Shapton USA and they suggested I check Amazon. They indicated that there are a few "mom and pop" type shops in Japan that may still have a 1000 under the Japanese label.
