Hi,

Am going to mount a CBN wheel on a cheap 8" grinder (can't afford the TFWW Baldor custom-tuned pkg).

Anybody used the system below? It's $70.

RPM will be 2K.

Thanks!

David,

I used that for years on a bench grinder with good Norton wheels. It sits on the shelf now that I went to CBN wheels on my sharpening grinders.

Unless your grinder is horribly made or abused your CBN wheel should not need any balancing. This is the experience reported by others and mine as well - I use four CBN wheels on several grinders and all run true.

I do use the inexpensive spherical washer set on all wheels. (Ken Rizza ,Woodturners Wonders) It is designed to compensate for any irregularities in the arbor nut or washer.

Looks like a lot of effort for little gain.

First off run the grinder with No wheels. If it's smooth running you are good to go. If it vibrates, tie a rope to it and drop it overboard when you are fishing, then it has some use.

Ditto to what JKJ said. I used that with friable wheels, but CBN wheels come balanced and you shouldn't need that system. My grinder is no Baldor, and it is fine with the CBN.

I use the Oneway system with friable wheels. Works great.
