Well it's march 14 so it's Pi Day at work again.

We charge $3 for a slice of pie and coffee, money to The United Way charity.

This year we had apple pie and pecan pie.

I am making two apple pies to celebrate today. I figure that any reason for pie is a good reason.

I am trying to find the best way to celebrate November 11th of each year. That day is, of course, National Corduroy Day.

Appropriately, also Albert Einstein's birthday (as well as my wife's).

Rod,

Why not $3.14 for the pie? Is the price Canadian or US dollars?

I would think it would be too much trouble making change.

National Corduroy Day is a joke right?

IMO both Veterans Day and Memorial Day are the most important days of every year second only to Christmas. If not for the Military service and sacrifice of those who have served our Country there wouldn't be any holidays to celebrate.

Its real Keith. The New Yorker publucized it in 2011 in a humor piece. I dont find 17 million dead and 20 million wounded in World War I funny.

I apologize if my comment offended anyone. Yes, November 11th is now Veteran's Day, originally Armistice's Day, I believe.

For the record, I spent 12 years in the Navy so am one of those that served.

11/11 is the only day that could be Corduroy Day due to the four ones.

A pizza chain (Piology) near us had individual pizzas for $3.14. We stood in line an hour and all five of us got one.

Buuurp. I can't believe I ate the whole thing.

A shame your group couldn't stand in a circle. Or at least an arc...

MikeHence the Tau Manifesto!!!! LOL! I know nobody is really interested in this but the basic premise is that 2*pi shows up more in mathematics than pi by itself does. So Tau = 2*Pi. They argue Pi should have been 6.28xxxxxxxxx from the get go....

With home made whipped cream....

It was delicious.

Chris, that makes perfect sense for the 5% of us that use mathematics in our jobs.

The other 95% of the population probably relate to Pi better.

A few years ago for Halloween I made a Jack O Lantern with the Pi symbol on it. Out of approximately 200 children that crossed my door step, only a few exclaimed "Oh, that's Pumpkin Pi".

regards, Rod.

Subtle jokes like that seem lost on people. Most people don't get the gag of our two dog's names: Bella and Bartok.
