This walnut NE came from a friend's plantation near Athens, GA. It is 11 in. X 6 in., finished in lacquer. The tree root was dug up and I am also including pictures(inside and outside) of a bowl turned from the root to show the figure you can get if you dig deep enough. This root bowl is 10 in. wide X 8 inches high, and also has a lacquer finish. I have problems taking a picture with these glossy finishes and not being able to remove the glares.

Ooooh! Wow Glenn...Beautiful work! I dunno...I think you balanced your lighting just fine. You captured the beauty of each piece and have just the right amount of highlight to show off the finish. Looks good from here!:)

I love them Glenn. Especially the root bowl, it has some wild grain patterns.

I appreciate all the kind remarks about my work, but I cannot take credit for the wood. My friend that gave me the wood came to see me yesterday, and was so impressed with the grain pattern in the root bowl that he said he had another walnut stump he was going back to his place and dig up with his backhoe. The picture does not show the swirling patterns of this piece to its best, but what can an neophite photographer do...again it is not the wood's fault.
