Hi, Got my latest Fine Woodworking yesterday and there on page 89 in the "Reader's Gallery" is a picture of a very fine Newport Style Kneehole desk by fellow PA resident and SMC'er Alan Turner.
Great job Alan!
take care,
John

Way to go, Alan! While we're at it, we might as well give kudos to Paul Comi, too!! His edging system made it to the top reader tips in FWW this month. It was a good month for the Creek, as far as the folks at Taunton are concerned! :D :D

nice piece that alan made. It is hard to go wrong with a newport piece as far as design goes, but it is easy not to build it right. Alan has done a great job.

You might want to check out this SMC thread (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=19366) where Alan first posted his pictures of the desk on the SMC Nander Forum. There are some closeups of the work and narrative about the construction techniques that will take your breath away.
